Terms of Engagement
Last updated: 9 September 2026
These terms of engagement form the contract between Medical Weight Care and the patient. We ask all patients to read them before starting treatment with us, to be sure they understand and agree to them.
Who we are
Medical Weight Care is a trading name of Medical Weight Care Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14337133. Our registered office is Suite 4.07, Windsor House, Cornwall Road, Harrogate HG1 2PW.
We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZB512577.
All medical advice and treatment is provided by Dr Vas Kavadas, GMC number 4298348. This is a single-doctor practice: Dr Kavadas sees every patient personally. As a doctor registered with the General Medical Council, she practises in line with their professional and ethical guidance.
The service we provide
Medical Weight Care provides medical advice and treatment for obesity and overweight. The causes of obesity and overweight may be due to a combination of lifestyle, genetic and environmental factors, and patients may respond differently to the same treatment approach. There is no guarantee that treatment will be successful in helping a patient to reach a target weight, but our approach will aim to support and educate patients through their weight loss journey.
The first appointment is free: 20 to 30 minutes with Dr Kavadas to discuss whether treatment is appropriate before any commitment is made. Nothing is prescribed at this appointment.
Details of the patient pathway are available on this website. Our current prices are published on this website and will also be made available on request. Pricing is reviewed on a regular basis and may be subject to change.
All blood tests and prescriptions are at an additional cost to the consultations. The cost of any prescribed medication is charged separately from consultation and prescription fees. Payment is required in advance of any consultation, prescription, medication or blood test.
During assessment and investigation, other conditions may come to light that require further investigation. Dr Kavadas may recommend that the patient is seen by another healthcare professional for ongoing investigation and advice before treatment can be commenced. This may be at an additional cost and will not form part of the patient's agreement with Medical Weight Care.

Contacting us
Email: info@medicalweightcare.co.uk Telephone: 07745 520201
Appointments are available Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and some evenings and weekends by arrangement. Enquiries sent outside those hours are not monitored and may not be read until the next working day.
We do not provide urgent or out-of-hours care. A pre-booked evening or weekend appointment is not emergency cover. If you need urgent medical help, contact your GP or call NHS 111. In an emergency, call 999.
Prescribed medication and dispensing
Where medication is prescribed, it is usually dispensed by Dr Kavadas directly, either in clinic or sent to you by next day delivery. Some medication is dispensed instead by a GPhC-registered pharmacy. Dr Kavadas will tell you which applies to your prescription before you pay for it.
Where medication is dispensed directly by Dr Kavadas, it cannot be returned or refunded once it has been supplied to you. If your medication is faulty, tell us and we will take the matter up with the manufacturer.
Where medication is dispensed by a pharmacy, issues with that medication will be dealt with by the pharmacy from which it was issued, and refunds will only be issued in line with that pharmacy's refund policy.
Prescription-only weight loss medication is issued only following clinical assessment and where it is clinically appropriate. It is not suitable for everyone and is not available on request.
What the patient agrees to
The patient understands and agrees to the following.
-
I will remain registered with a GP (or register with a GP) whilst under the care of Medical Weight Care.
-
Medical Weight Care will not provide emergency care for acute or urgent medical conditions that arise following or during advice and treatment of obesity and overweight.
-
I give permission to Medical Weight Care to contact my GP regarding any aspects of my care, and will keep my GP or any other medical provider updated as to any treatment I am receiving from Medical Weight Care.
-
I will be open and honest when providing information about my medical history and any medications I am taking, and will keep Medical Weight Care updated if my medical conditions or my medication change.
-
If my consultations take place remotely, I understand I may be asked to stand on some weighing scales during the consultation, measure my waist size with a tape measure and provide a recent blood pressure measurement. I may therefore need access to weighing scales and a tape measure during or shortly after the consultation.
-
I understand that other conditions may come to light during the assessment process and Dr Kavadas may recommend that I am seen by a different healthcare professional. This may be at an additional cost and will not form part of my agreement with Medical Weight Care.
-
Dr Kavadas will issue prescriptions for medication where indicated. Depending on the medication, it will be dispensed either by Dr Kavadas or by a GPhC-registered pharmacy. Where medication is dispensed directly by Dr Kavadas, it cannot be returned or refunded once it has been supplied to me; if it is faulty, the matter will be taken up with the manufacturer. Where medication is dispensed by a pharmacy, issues with that medication will be dealt with by the pharmacy from which it was issued, and refunds will only be issued in line with that pharmacy's refund policy.
-
I understand that any weight management plan will require that I try to adhere to a healthy eating and exercise plan alongside any other treatment that may be recommended.
-
I understand that payment must be made in advance of any consultation, prescription, medication or blood test.
-
I understand that unless I provide 24 hours' notice of cancellation, I will be charged the full cost of the booked appointment. This applies to all appointment types, including blood test appointments.
