Medical Weight Care is a single-doctor clinic. Dr Vas Kavadas assesses and reviews every patient herself, at the Yarm and Harrogate clinics and remotely. She is SCOPE certified in obesity management, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Obesity and Weight Management, and established the clinic in 2022, registered with the Care Quality Commission.

Medical Weight Care is a single-doctor clinic. Dr Vas Kavadas carries out every assessment and every review herself, and answers the questions in between. Nothing is passed to a prescriber you never meet, and nobody is handed from one clinician to another as they go along.

Dr Kavadas graduated from Bristol University in 1996 and worked in the NHS for twelve years, completing an MD in quality of life research. She then moved into legal medicine, where she saw at first hand how far chronic conditions — obesity among them — shape how people function day to day, and what their lives are actually like.
That is the interest she brought back into clinical practice. She has completed an AFN certified course in nutrition and a Postgraduate Diploma in Obesity and Weight Management with the University of South Wales, and is a SCOPE Certified Practitioner, an obesity management qualification awarded by the World Obesity Federation.
She established Medical Weight Care in 2022 and registered the clinic with the Care Quality Commission.
What a single-doctor clinic means in practice

The doctor who assesses you is the doctor who reviews you, every time. You are not repeating your history to someone new.

Prescribing decisions are made by a doctor who has met you, taken your history and examined you — not by an online questionnaire.

Medication is one of the options discussed, not the starting assumption. Some patients are treated without it, and some are advised against it.
